This project is an immersive, moving, site-specific performance. Part “derive”, part haunting story, part stream-of-consciousness and part peripatetic manifestation. During the performance, the performers led individual listeners walking through the squares, the streets and the corners of Bloomsbury, as well as the intimate confessions, desires, and fear of the three women. The premise of the piece is a quest for pieces ofa thinking womanin the streets of Bloomsbury, as the performers take the audiencefrom FritzrovialMural to the British Museum, discovering and piecing together the body of a woman, represented through mannequin pieces.
By using the mannequins in different streets in Bloomsbury, for me, I tried to explore how city spaces either objectify or make invisible the female body. As all of the members continued their research into the poetry and strangeness of the mannequin fragments through actions and movements, they became a core dramaturgical element. The search for self in London also became a piecing together of a lost and broken body. Taking the format of a guided tour, the performance attempts to pull the participants into an active and involved state.
